Sarah has been recently named in Legal 500’s list of “Next Generation Lawyers” her notable hospitality work. Based in the UAE, she supports Clydes’ Riyadh, Doha, Dar Es Salaam and Singapore offices and has helped expand the Hospitality practice into Africa. Sarah worked in-house for several years with a FTSE listed international hotel operator in the UAE, giving her a unique first-hand understanding of the hospitality sector.
Sarah’s experience includes her post as head negotiator on over 75 hotel projects in the region, including the largest hospitality construction project to date in Makkah with a net worth exceeding USD 5.3 billion with other projects in UAE, Nigeria, Qatar, Iraq, South Africa, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, and Georgia.
Sarah’s industry background combined with Arabic language skills provides her clients with great insight. She integrates her understanding of international hotel accounting methods, operational standards and market methodologies with legal expertise to provide commercial pragmatic advice.
Sarah advises investors, owners and operators on a variety of hotel related matters including negotiating suite of hotel agreements, F&B management agreements, subordination non-disturbance agreements with major financial institutions, licensing and regulatory compliance, due diligence, leases and concessions, commercial agreements, day to day operational issues, disputes, development and corporate strategy and owner/operator relationship management.
Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Sarah was legal counsel for Millennium & Copthorne Hotels and has previously worked in private practice in Houston, Texas. Sarah has recently authored the article “5 Tips for Hotel Operators Entering the UAE Market”.
