Senior Vice President - Middle East & Africa
Marko has over 11 years of consulting experience focused around Hotels and Commercial Real Estate. He has worked and led projects in over 15 countries across Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has advised on more than 100,000 hotel keys of operating and proposed hotel projects, with the total investment value in excess of USD 20 Billion. Marko has joined JLL in 2013 and currently holds the position of Senior Vice President – Acting Head of the Hotels and Hospitality Group for Middle East & North Africa region. Marko is responsible for managing JLL’s Hotels business and delivery of services to regional clients, such as: investment & development advisory, hotel operator search & selection, hotel valuations, strategic advisory, Hotel F&B consulting, asset management, buy-side advisory, etc. Marko’s prior experience includes 6 years at Colliers International where he acted as Director – Head of Valuations and Consulting covering the South East Europe markets. Prior to this, Marko worked within several shorter roles for Cushman & Wakefield’s team in London as an external consultant for the Slovenian market, HSBC and CILA in Ireland. Marko has worked on valuation and strategic advisory studies for all segments of real estate, including hotels, office buildings, shopping centres, development land properties and mixed-use developments. He has also worked on investment transactions with regional funds for few commercial real estate assets. Marko has completed a Certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investments & Asset Management and a Certificate in Advanced Hotel Revenue Management at Cornell University (USA). Marko holds an Executive MBA from the Cardiff Metropolitan University and is a Fellow member of the RICS Association. Marko also holds two MSc degrees in Real Estate from University of Salford in Manchester, UK and KTH – Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Marko completed his Bachelor’s degree at GEA College in Slovenia and completed an Exchange to Haga-Helia University in Helsinki, Finland for a period of 1 year. Marko also participated in a course at Nankai University in China with focus on doing business in China. Marko is a Slovenian national and speaks fluent Slovenian and English.
