James joined IHG in 2010 from a US law firm in Dubai where he was a corporate associate, having previously undertaken his legal training in Dubai and London. He is experienced in all legal disciplines critical to hospitality projects from an international operator’s perspective. During his tenure at IHG, James has advised upon and negotiated all manner of commercial and development agreements throughout India, the Middle East, Africa and Greater China. He now leads IHG’s legal function for India, Middle East and Africa, where his team has responsibility for all legal matters across IHG’s extensive managed and franchise estate in the region. James took his first degree in economics and finance in 2003, before qualifying as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2008.
